Orange Banana Smoothie

Posted by Sarah on July 28, 2011

We make smoothies all of the time in this house. But I think I did it. I think I found the perfect combination. I might be making this every night if my husband has anything to do with it.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup frozen sliced bananas

1 cup orange juice (fresh squeezed is best)

1 cup kefir cultured milk (I find this at trader joe’s)

Directions:

To get the frozen sliced bananas, peal and slice the bananas. Place them on a cookie sheet in a single layer and into the freezer. Once the bananas are frozen they can be transferred to a ziploc bag.

Add the bananas, orange juice, and kefir milk to a blender. Blend for a good minute. Make sure it is smooth and frothy.

This is a good smooth drink. It is thick and cold but without the ice. Mmm, I want some more. Add some protein powder and you have the perfect post workout drink.

We’ve been using orange juice a lot in our smoothies this season. It goes with a lot of fruit, tastes fresh and bright, and is readily available here.
