4 weeks down. I am 3 days behind right now. I am pretty proud though. Still far enough to catch up and finish on time. There are days that I can fit in a couple of hours of reading and other days getting just minutes can be difficult.
I find motivation right now in getting to read about Solomon. One of my biblical heroes. David is more famous but Solomon was able to lead Israel in a time of peace and he did amazing things for God. His mother Bathsheba was also a woman that I have learned from in the bible. Solomon was the man who gave us proverbs. We use the proverbs to teach children, each other, and we use proverbs to learn for ourselves.
I am grateful to be reading in the old testament right now. As I watch the news about egypt I am impacted by the fact that nothing has really changed. Al Jazeera is playing in the background of my computer as I type this. It is all the same. The stories of oppression and fighting for freedom. It is a clear sign to me that the bible is as relevant today as it was when it was first written for us. God knows mens hearts and we don’t change. Our struggles today are no different than they were 2000 years ago. It reminds me of Jeremiah 17:9-10
“The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure.
Who can understand it?
and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.”

I am so glad that you are staying strong enjoying the reading.
Keep it up!
Pretty amazing, huh?
And yes, the Bible is most definitely so very, very relevant today.
Your words are so true. Even the Old Testament is still so relevant. I am learning every day and wanting to learn more.
